Are We a Good Fit?
New Patient Checklist
Selecting the right pediatrician is a significant decision that requires ensuring the practice’s philosophies and approach to care align with your family’s values and priorities. This alignment is essential for building trust and fostering high-quality care as well as respectful, collaborative decision-making between you and your child’s pediatrician.
To support you in this process, we encourage you to review our comprehensive checklist to determine if we are the right fit for your family. please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our office policies and services.
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming, supportive environment and look forward to establishing a mutually rewarding partnership with your family.
Please read the following checklist carefully to be sure Adirondack Pediatrics is the appropriate medical home for your children.
We look forward to meeting you and forming a mutually rewarding relationship.

Vaccines
Our Vaccine Policy follows the schedule outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We ask all our patients to follow the schedule we use at our office. If you do not plan on vaccinating your child with our recommended schedule, we ask that you seek alternative care that is a better fit for you and your family. We do not partake in alternate schedules. If your child has a medical contraindication such as chemotherapy, immunosupression or other medical concerns, we follow the recommended guideline for vaccine administation from the AAP. We feel a strong responsibility to protect our community from vaccine preventable diseases.
Antibiotics
We strive to avoid overusing antibiotics by educating families on their proper use and following evidence-based guidelines to ensure responsible prescribing. Many cases are viral and do not require antibiotic treatment. Instead, our pediatricians take the time to explain alternative approaches and the importance of allowing the body to heal naturally when appropriate.
Additionally, we do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone, as we strongly believe it is not sound medical practice to do so without a proper assessment. Antibiotics are only prescribed when deemed necessary and appropriate after a thorough evaluation, prioritizing the well-being of our patients while avoiding the risks of antibiotic resistance and unnecessary side effects.
Medical Home
We work hard to provide comprehensive medical care and serve as your medical home. To that end, we urge you to contact our office FIRST before seeking specialty care or heading to another provider for urgent care. We want to be involved in either providing care in our office where appropriate or referring you to the most appropriate specialist and helping coordinate your care.
Whenever you do see a specialist, we ask that you request a report be sent directly to our office so we may stay informed and have the most up-to-date information in your child’s medical record.
Technology
Our practice prides itself on efficiency through the use of technology. Where applicable, you will be encouraged to consult our website, register for and use our patient portal, and effectively use automated reminders for appointments and routine care/immunizations that are due. We utilize telemedicine for selected appointments. Contact our office for further information.
